1/2" spacers

ok boys i bought deejay's rims off of him last nite and had a bad experience with to much rubbing and guess what CAPOW again! god d#mn dirty son of a batch of cookies so now i figured out i need 1/2" spacers for 5X4.250

Well what is it rubbing on? I had to do quite a bit to my volvo to get my 18s to fit, like trimming a bit of fender well, rolling the lip tapping a little sheetmetal, unless its the strut im sure you can play around and make it work without spacers.
